Engineering and construction

Ytre Vikna Wind Farm, stage 1 was completed October 2012. The Wind Farm is located in Vikna municipality, Nord-Trøndelag. The Wind Farm consists of 17 direct drive wind turbines deliverd by Enercon, class IEC IA, with a total of 39 MW installed capacity.

Multiconsult was also involved in all the early studies and has in addition been responsible for planning, engineering, contract management, implementation, grid, construction management, and the preparation and monitoring of the environmental, transportation and construction plan (MTA). The Wind Farm was completed within budget and time.

Scope of work

Ytre Vikna Wind Farm is located at the coast with very good wind resources. The wind turbines arrived to Rørvik quay and were transported by road going special vehicles to the site. Due to the saline conditions at the coast, the transformer, switchgears and substation automation equipment are located indoors of the transformer building. In addition there were built a service building and a showroom on a vantage point. The showroom is always open for the public.

Around 8 km of internal roads was build. The internal cables are located in the shoulder of the roads. The wind farm is connected to the regional transformer station in Rørvik with an 20 km 132 kV overhead line. The wind turbine foundation are of the gravitational type. Concrete volume is approximately 350 m3. The crane hardstands are according to the specific requirements from the wind turbine supplier.
