The project comprises interdisciplinary substation design. The main tasks will be designing the high-voltage systems, buildings and other structures, including associated ground works, landscape architecture, service roads, electrical systems and building services.
Multiconsult held a kickoff meeting with Statnett on 1 December. The work package is made up of sub-projects for several substations sharing the same client team. Statnett wants to work with a design team that will collaborate with its own team to produce much of the technical documentation needed for the project’s decision points.

Using local staff in Trondheim
Multiconsult will fulfil the contract using local staff at its Central Norway office in Trondheim supported by the Greater Oslo Area. Most of Statnett’s client team is also based in Trondheim.
– Multiconsult’s team will work on the projects over the coming 2-3 years. Additional substations may also be incorporated into the project at some stage during that period, says Brynjar Sandvik, Multiconsult’s project manager.
The work will involve developing the substations in close cooperation with Statnett, including design, technical specifications for subcontracts and site supervision.
