Multiconsult increases presence in Malaysia

Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) has awarded Multiconsult two contracts to perform five prefeasibility studies for hydropower projects in Sabah, Malaysia.

Improving energy security in Sabah

The projects are located at Padas, Liwagu and Tuaran rivers in Sabah, the northern part of Borneo and are important projects in Malaysias plan to meet the region’s growing electricity demand. Earlier desk studies have estimated that the projects could range in size from 25 to 120 MW.

This is a significant new reference projects for our South-East Asia business and builds on our experience gained from more than thirty years of hydropower developments in the region,” says Knut Norén, Managing Director of Multiconsult UK.  – A combined team  from Multiconsults UK and Norway offices will perform the studies, thereby optimising use of expertise and ensuring a cost effective and high quality project. “

Multiconsult’s previous engagement in Malaysia includes the feasibility study for the 192 MW Upper Padas project in Borneo and sediment assessments in Sarawak.
