Dr Jørn Stave is the first Norwegian to be accredited for the HSAP, and is part of a small group of eleven accredited assessors worldwide.

– We are very proud to have an in-house environmental advisor with this kind of world-class expertise, says Kristine Lien Skog, Head of the Natural Resources Section. – Multiconsult has a long history of promoting sustainable hydropower and this commitment can now be strengthened by also offering HSAP services to our clients.

The HSAP involves assessing a hydropower project’s performance across more than 20 sustainability topics ranging from communications and consultation, Indigenous Peoples, and public health, to biodiversity and invasive species, erosion and sedimentation, waste, noise, and air quality and many more.  The HSAP covers all stages of a hydropower project: the early stage, preparation, implementation, and operation.  At each stage of the project, accredited assessors review the detailed list of sustainability topics to determine whether each criteria is met.

– I am delighted to have become an accredited assessor after going through a rigorous training, says Jørn Stave. I really feel that this has expanded my understanding the whole spectrum of sustainability issues, and I hope to share this knowledge with colleagues as well as clients.
