Overcoming fierce international competition, Multiconsult has won the three-year contract to implement the programme ‘Zanzibar Energy Sector Support Project – Consolidation Phase’. The SEK 22 million contract, funded by the Swedish international development agency SIDA, was signed with the Zanzibar Ministry of Lands, Housing, Water and Energy (MLHWE) on 4 April 2016.

Multiconsult is heading a consortium consisting of PwC, the International Law and Policy Institute, IMMMA Advocates and Norplan Tanzania, which over the next three years will develop new legislation, as well as strengthening management, systems and planning within the Ministry and at the state-owned Zanzibar Electricity Corporation (ZECO).

The contract is the latest in a long line of renewable energy projects that Multiconsult has carried out on Zanzibar.

“Thanks to our Renewable Energy Advisory Services (REAS), we have positioned ourselves as one of the biggest and most important energy consultancies in East Africa, and this is helping to make Multiconsult a leading brand in markets outside Norway,” says Tom Ødegaard, Senior Vice President, Market and Sales Energy.
