INVOLVED FROM CONCEPT DESIGN THROUGH TO COMPLETION

Work on the plans to develop Hamnefjell wind farm started a long time ago. But on the 21st of January this year Finnmark Kraft took the decision to go ahead with the project. This was great news for Multiconsult, which has been working on the concept for the project since 2013.
Now that a final decision has been taken, Multiconsult has signed a contract with Hamnefjell Vindkraft AS (a joint venture between Finnmark Kraft and Ardian) for detail design, construction management, managing technical disciplines and other administrative support during the construction phase.
“Multiconsult aims to be Norway’s leading provider of engineering services to the wind power industry. This is therefore a very important contract for us, as it will help us to cement our strong position,” says section manager for wind Ragnhild Remmen Bull.

ENOUGH ELECTRICITY TO POWER 8,000 HOMES

The first phase of the project involves 15 wind turbines with total rated power of approximately 50 MW, which are expected to generate 186 GWh per year. This is sufficient to cover the needs of a town of around 8,000 homes. The total investment in the project will be approximately NOK 600 million. Construction is due to start on 1 May 2016, and the wind farm should be completed in autumn 2017.
